The Valentine's Day Cards were a project created as a way to give back to those individuals who contribute to the easiness of our everyday life without knowing. For instance, I gave one to my Studio Art professor because he has helped me grow as an artist for the past four years, and one to a worker at Peet's Coffee, who every morning greets me with a big smile. Additionally, because these cards were intended for a general audience, as designers, we had to step away from the traditional notion of love, and create a project that stood unique among all the Valentine's Day stereotypes. Accordingly, I chose to focus on sweets and candy, which oftentimes can be addicting and tempting just like love, but that can also teach us the value of moderation.

Bauhaus inspired poster. Bauhaus was a German art school that started in 1919 and ended in 1933. The movement combined crafts and fine arts to design in a way that combined beauty with function to unify the principles of mass production with individual artistic vision. The poster's message is to "create more art, consume more art."

For this project, we had to create educational type classification cards with a theme of our choosing. I picked gemstones because they are oftentimes used spiritually by individuals to release mental stress to gain knowledge. On the front of each card, we had to include the type classification with a brief history, its application, examples of fonts, the alphabet, and the date it was created. On the back of each card, we had to use our theme and incorporate facts about it.

The Choco Cake project was a typography exercise that ultimately became a recipe spread. The objective of this exercise was to successfully integrate a lot of text on one page with no decorations, just text, and one color. Furthermore, the project required each student to chose an appropriate font and consider hierarchy, size, style, placement, weight, case, and color. After completing the Choco Cake recipe, we had to transform the project into a spread with an image.

This project required each student to pick a woman designer who has or is influencing the design industry, and create a presentation explaining her life, her design techniques, and her achievements. This handout was created to facilitate the presentation and so that every student could have a brief biography of each designer in their sketchbooks. I picked Paula Scher because I appreciate her work and her graphic identities for brands like Tiffany & Co. revolutionized the regeneration of contemporary American brands.
